Work with change notices
Apply active change notices to a usage BOM
When working with usage BOMs, use active change notices to track your work. Local change notices do not currently support tracking of usage BOMs.
A usage BOM is a bill of materials defined with a specific purpose or usage, based on the manufacturing intent of the material list. An active change notice is an official "global" change notice that flags specific changes to a manufacturing process that is currently in use. A local or in-context change notice is a temporary change notice that may only be relevant to a certain location or situation.
Prerequisites
Set the preference EP_ChangeManagementWithActiveChangeEnabled to true to ensure that all MCNs are global, or active.
If this value is set to false, all MCNs are
local.
Note
The preference EP_ChangeManagementWithActiveChangeEnabled is for use with usage BOMs only.
Procedure
Open a work package that contains at least one manufacturing change notice (MCN).
On the Manage Work Package page, in the Tasks group, click any task button to go to a task page.
In the Track Your Work dialog box, select from the list of active change notices, and then click Continue. On the task page you selected, the active MCN is displayed, but cannot be modified. You can only select a different active change by changing to a different task, or from the Active Change list on the Manage Work Package page.
Return to the Manage Work Package page and navigate to another task page. The Track Your Work dialog box is displayed again. Note If you select an element on a task page and then use that selection to navigate to another page, such as Process Planning and Work Instructions Authoring, the previously selected change notice is still active.
(Optional) Select a different change notice.
