Assignments overview

The Assignments view allows you to create and edit the logical assignments of a process or operation. When working with the enterprise BOP, you can view product assignments by processes or operations in the context of a generic BOP or product BOP. It shows logical assignment definitions and the actual part to which it resolved; manual part assignment; and tool requirement and the actual tool resolved for this tool requirement.

Note

For completeness, the Assignments view shows any part consumptions of the processes and operations, even if they are not related to logical assignments.

If the assignments are filtered in the BOP tree by (for example) occurrence type, revision rules, variant rules, or incremental change, the same filters are applied to the assignments in the view.

Logical assignment definition names comprise the usage address and position designator of the logical assignment, separated by a user-defined delimiter.

By default, the Assignments view shows only the occurrences that relate to product assignments, as determined by the occurrence type.

Once created, you cannot edit a logical assignment. Instead, remove the line and create a new logical designator in its place.

You cannot force an actual part assignment on a logical assignment. Consequently, dropping a part on a specific logical assignment or on another inappropriate location has no effect. Also, you cannot copy, cut, paste, or drag a logical assignment between processes and operations.
